The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in association with the U.S Geological Survey(USGS) has blended its bathymetric data with the topographic data from USGS into a digital elevation model(DEM) with the help of a datum transformation tool. In a joint demonstration project for a narrow band along the coastline in the Louisiana Topo/Bathy project area, LIDAR data provided by NASA is compared to the result of a manual survey performed along the same area and the results are verified.
