On November 15, 2000, the U.S. Geological Survey’s National Wetlands Research Center and C.H. Fenstermaker & Associates sponsored “Discovering Acadiana through GIS: Business, Environment and Industry”, a GIS Day open house event. The event included a map gallery, GIS presentations, demonstrations/booths, and a tour of the Center’s GIS lab. About fifteen agencies/organizations representing federal, state, and local government, private industry and academia from the Lafayette region participated. The open house attracted over a hundred guests and lasted for two hours.
