Minutes From The Spring 2001 Meeting

Business Meeting Attendees:
Attendees included Region Officers Larry Handley, Director, Brent Yantis,
President and Pat O'Neil, Secretary/Treasurer. |

I. |
Spring Meeting was called to order by Brent Yantis. |
|
|
|
|
II. |
Minutes of the Fall meeting at Clemson University, Clemson, South
Carolina were distributed in the Spring Newsletter by Secretary Pat
O'Neil. There being no additions or deletions to the minutes were
accepted. |

III. |
Treasurer's Report: Treasurer Pat O'Neil state that expenditures were
$260 for student paper/poster Competition and $768 for news letter
publication and distribution. Total expenditure $1028. The Region balance
is $7492 in savings account and $260 in the checking account. The total
balance for the ASPRS Mid South Region $7752. |

IV. |
Approximately 190 people attended 17th Annual Remote Sensing and GIS
Workshop held at the Pennington Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This
meeting is co-sponsored by Mid-South Region. The meeting was well attended
and was represented by various federal, state, local agencies,
universities and private sector organizations. The keynote speaker was
Michael Renslow, past ASPRS president, who presented the topic "The
Status of the LIDAR Industry and Future Applications". There were 12
sessions with 34 papers and 12 posters presented at the meeting covering
various geospatial topics of interest. Some of the main topics were the
Louisiana Brown Marsh mapping efforts; Update on USGS Mapping Activities
in Louisiana; and NASA's State, Local and Tribal Initiative. |

The Fall 2001 Meeting will be held near Stennis Space Center, Ms. on the
Mississippi Gulf Coast. |

Election
Results.
Brent Yantis, President; Mark Grave, Vice President; Haluk Cetin,
2nd Vice President; Pat O'Neil, Secratary Treasurer;
Greg Giesing, Councilperson- Alabama; Alex Wong,
Councilperson Kentucky; Michael Camille, Councilperson-Louisiana; Marie
Colson, Councilperson- Tennessee; and the region voted in favor of the Mid
South Region trying hosting the 2004 or 2005 Annual Meeting in the Region. |
